Danko Jones Concert
Last night we headed into the Big City, the Commodore (...with the bouncy floor...does anyone actually say that anymore or am I dating myself?) specifically - to rock out to Danko Jones!!!!!

I'm so glad we went to this concert - it's only the
Damn he is a fine looking man.

And yes, Papa Bear knows I think that. And he's ok with that. Because I know about his Drew Barrymore and Kate Winslet obsession. And besides, as if!
In any case - eee!
We arrived at the Commodore just after 8pm (parking was a nightmare!) and due to Danko not being super well known, we were able to get a table in a pretty good position to the stage.
The first two bands (Cold Driven and Burn Hollywood Burn) weren't bad - good thing Papa Bear had brought us earplugs though!
Danko got on stage at about 11pm and holy crap did we give them a great reception - the area in front of the stage was packed with people, the air was thick with the stuff that makes BC famous, and there was a lot of energy and excitement.

John Calabrese (bass guitar) and Dan Cornelius (drums) hit the stage first and that got everyone going, when Danko Jones (vocals/lead guitar) came on it was game over - I was trying hard not to jump up and down like a 4 year old at the amusement park but I was pretty psyched.
Danko Jones has an amazing stage presence and really gets the crowd involved with the show, interspersing heavy, hard rocking songs with direct involvment of the fans.

They played a variety of music from their most recent 5 albums - unlike a lot of today's pop music, they sound just as good onstage as on their studio produced and mastered CD's. Not much computer editing needed when you've got the talent!
We managed to get them back onstage after their set, for a fantastic encore - such a great show!!! I'm so glad we went.
I did try to take a few videos and pictures with my phone (I didn't run the risk of taking my camera as a lot of places don't allowed cameras these days) so please excuse the poorer quality. Also, my phone allows only a 40 second video.
If you live in Kelowna, they're playing Flashbacks club tonight - Calgary tomorrow at The Back Alley. If you dig hard indie rock and a super high energy show, I strongly advise getting tickets and checking them out!
